Where to launch your project online
There is no single best place for every project. The right choice depends on your audience: developers, consumers, professionals, gamers. Here are the families of platforms and what each brings.
Launch platforms
Product Hunt, Uneed, Peerlist, Microlaunch, BetaList or produrise: each project gets a listing, the community votes and comments. They suit digital tools, SaaS, apps and extensions. produrise is free, in English and French, and no ranking can be bought.
Maker communities
Indie Hackers, Hacker News’ “Show HN” thread or r/SideProject on Reddit welcome project showcases. The expected tone is sincere: say what you built, why, and what you learned.
Your audience’s communities
For a game, a shop or a local service, tech platforms barely reach your audience. Aim instead for enthusiast groups, specialised forums and networks where your audience already spends time.
Directories and comparison sites
Tool directories and “alternatives to” pages are visited by people actively looking for a solution. A complete listing brings steady visits and links to your site.
How to choose
- List where your audience already spends time.
- Start with two or three places you can follow seriously.
- Prepare an equally good listing everywhere: tagline, screenshots, video, link.
- Track where your visits come from to know what to repeat.
