How to find beta testers
A beta reveals what you no longer see: what is confusing, what breaks, what is missing. A few well-chosen testers beat a long list that never opens the app.
Who to recruit
Look for people who have the problem you solve, not just supportive friends. A tester who looks like your future customer will find the real blockers.
Where to find them
- Communities around your topic (forums, groups, Discord).
- Platforms that connect makers and testers, like the produrise testers space.
- Your first sign-ups: offer early access in exchange for feedback.
What to ask
Give a precise mission: “sign up and create your first project”, rather than “tell me what you think”. Then ask what was hard, what surprised them and what is missing.
Use the feedback
Sort each piece of feedback: bug, idea, pricing, design. Fix first what prevents using the product, then what several testers mention. Reply to everyone: a tester who feels heard often becomes your first ambassador.
Thank them without paying
Extended free access, a name in the credits, priority on new features: recognition matters. On produrise, testers earn points and a visible status.
